Howdy All,

MY ART AS A MOSAIC

I never imagined my art as a mosaic but here it is! I just received this photo from R.L. Claxton of Franklin Development Companies. He found an image of my painting of the Arneson River Theater on the Web and sent me an e-mail asking if it could be used for a mosaic at Franklin Park Sonterra, a senior living community in north San Antonio. I’m thrilled that it is done and I can't wait to go see it in person. Below is the plaque that is on the wall to the left. You can see the tiles are about 3/4 inch wide. Amazing and cool.

I'm still painting little 2.5 x 8 inch oil on wood slices. I'm a fifth of the way to my goal of 100. It's been challenging to choose what to paint that fits the skinny format but once I get going, it's fun. This one to the left was painted with a pallet knife. There are others that are painted with brushes. I was just Skypeing with my friend Mezzo in California who bought three slices. She waited until we were on Skype so I could watch her open them. They each come specially wrapped with bright turquoise paper and an orange ribbon.

I'm glad she waited so I could watch her open them. She was so happy when she saw each one for the first, second and third time. She said they exceeded her expectations. Yeah! That's what this artist wants to hear. You can see the slices here.

ART IS IN THE MAIL
All my newsletter subscribers are entered in a drawing for a chance to win either a small painting, print or cards.

The March/April winner was Candy P. of Rockwall, TX who was sent an 8x10 matted to 11x14 inch print of Succulent Blue, a reproduction of one of my most requested paintings. I'll announce the new winner in my next newsletter.

WHAT'S NEXT
I'm looking forward to some plein air painting in August as I travel from San Antonio, Texas to Bellingham, Washington to attend the 6th Annual Plein Air Painters' U.S. Open, August 23-27, 2011.

BIG GRATITUDE
Thank you to all the people who have and will purchase my art. It makes traveling the artist's path possible. Thank you, thank you.

A big thanks also to Nueva Street Gallery where my paintings, cards and prints are sold.
